Korean Air has partnered with Skyports Infrastructure to develop a new platform intended for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations. The agreement was announced at Drone Show Korea 2026 in Busan, emphasizing their joint efforts to create integrated management solutions for advanced air mobility (AAM). The collaboration involves linking Korean Air’s proprietary ACROSS system—used for flight control and traffic management—with Skyports’ VAS infrastructure automation system, aiming to streamline the passenger journey from vertiport check-in to arrival zones.
The ACROSS platform, launched in 2024, is designed to handle low-altitude aircraft operations such as eVTOLs, drones, and helicopters. Korean Air has validated this technology through participation in Korea’s UAM Grand Challenge, demonstrating its capabilities in managing flight schedules, flight plans, and maintenance. Meanwhile, Skyports is expanding its vertiport network internationally, with upcoming operations in Dubai and ongoing projects in Abu Dhabi and New York City, to support this new mode of urban air transit.
Advancing Sustainability and Industry Leadership
In addition to technological innovation, Korean Air highlighted its ongoing efforts to reduce carbon emissions. The airline reported cutting over 420,000 tons of emissions in 2025 by modernizing its fleet—including Boeing 787-9/10 and Airbus A350 aircraft—and implementing operational efficiencies such as route optimization and fuel management. These initiatives are overseen by a quarterly Fuel Management Steering Committee and have earned industry recognition.
This strategic partnership and sustainability commitment position Korean Air at the forefront of the evolving AAM industry, aligning technological advancements with environmental goals to shape the future of urban aviation.
