Korean Air has recently transitioned seven of its Airbus A350-1000 passenger aircraft orders to the newer A350F freighter model, expanding the airline’s cargo fleet with one of the most advanced large freighters developed by Airbus. The A350F boasts industry-leading cargo capacity, extensive use of lightweight materials, and adherence to upcoming international emissions standards, making it a significant addition for cargo operations.

The aircraft, capable of carrying up to 111 tonnes over a range of 4,700 nautical miles, is powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engines that promise a substantial reduction in fuel consumption and emissions. This order complements Korean Air’s fleet, which already includes 20 A350-1000s, six A350-900s, and 39 A321neo aircraft. The carrier’s commitment to modernization reflects its strategic focus on efficiency and sustainability.

Urban Air Mobility Demonstration

Separately, Korean Air successfully completed the second phase of its urban air mobility (UAM) demonstration in Incheon, Korea, over a 12-day period in October 2025. Utilizing its proprietary traffic management platform, ACROSS, the airline demonstrated its capability to coordinate urban flights, ensure safety, and manage complex airspace operations within Seoul’s metropolitan region. This project is part of the national effort to establish Korea as a leader in UAM commercialization, in collaboration with local government agencies and industry partners.

"Korean Air’s urban air mobility demonstration marks Korea’s first verified operation in a metropolitan environment, showcasing the potential of our traffic management and operational expertise," said a Korean Air spokesperson.

The airline plans to further develop its UAM platform and contribute to Korea’s future mobility ecosystem, emphasizing safety and operational excellence in emerging urban air transport.
