Korean Air has announced its financial results for the fourth quarter of 2025, demonstrating continued revenue growth alongside challenges in profitability. The airline's revenue for Q4 reached USD 3.17 billion, marking an increase of about USD 364 million compared to the previous year, supported by steady passenger and cargo demand. However, rising operating costs led to a 5% decline in operating profit, which settled at USD 287.9 million.
For the entire year, Korean Air's revenue stood at USD 11.50 billion, reflecting a 2% increase from 2024. Despite this, the airline experienced a significant drop in operating profit (19%) and net income (21%), affected by the ongoing pressure on operating expenses. The airline's route network saw flat demand on North American corridors due to tighter entry regulations and fierce competition but benefitted from strong demand in Japan and China during seasonal peaks.
Strategic Outlook for 2026
The airline is planning to enhance its passenger sales in overseas markets to offset currency impacts and weaker outbound demand from Korea. Capacity will be adjusted flexibly to optimize profitability during peak travel periods like Lunar New Year. While cargo operations face continued uncertainty due to slowing global economic growth, Korean Air aims to sustain high service standards and adapt swiftly to external market changes as it prepares for the launch of its new integrated airline platform.
Overall, Korean Air's forward-looking strategy emphasizes profitability, market adaptation, and service excellence amid a dynamic global aviation landscape.
