Women in Aviation Las Vegas hosted their annual Girls in Aviation Day at the Harry Reid International Airport hangar, offering hundreds of young people an up-close experience with aviation and aerospace careers. The event, attended by over 300 girls and boys aged 8-18, featured hands-on activities, speakers, and exhibits designed to inspire interest in aviation professions.
Samantha Shelton, a pilot participating in the event for several years, emphasized the importance of exposing young women to flight decks and aircraft. She noted, "It's huge, because a lot of these girls never been on a flight deck before. They've never seen an airplane like we're bringing over today." The event aims to introduce participants to various avenues in aviation, including pilot careers, aerospace technology, and other related fields.
