Coordination between Libyan and Turkish authorities is underway following a fatal plane crash near Ankara that resulted in the death of Libya’s army chief, Major General Mahmoud Ashour, along with seven others. The aircraft, a Dassault Falcon 50, experienced an electrical malfunction shortly after takeoff from Ankara Esenboga Airport and disappeared from radar while descending near the village of Kesikkavak in Haymana district.

Rescue teams found the wreckage, and investigations are focused on determining the cause of the crash. The incident has also prompted discussions about the upcoming funeral, with reports indicating possible delays due to the severity of the crash and the need for DNA testing of remains.

Libyan officials are working closely with Turkish prosecutors, as forensic work and repatriation arrangements continue. The incident highlights ongoing security and military stability issues in Libya, especially in western regions where militias wield significant influence.
