Liebherr-Aerospace, a provider of aerospace systems and components, announced plans to expand its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations at Lindenberg, Germany. The expansion aims to accommodate increased demand driven by the aging fleet of aircraft such as the Airbus A350, for which Liebherr supplies critical systems including the slat actuation and nose landing gear.
The company will enlarge its facility by approximately 65,000 square feet by extending customer service and assembly areas, thereby improving throughput, turnaround times, and operational efficiency. An additional development involves demolishing an existing administrative building and replacing it with modern infrastructure. The expansion is also driven by increased aftermarket service needs across the aviation industry, particularly for complex aircraft systems.
Liebherr's Expansion Initiatives
Liebherr’s Lindenberg site repairs systems for several aircraft models, including the Airbus A350. The growing demand for servicing aircraft components, especially as the A350 fleet ages, is expected to create a long-term pipeline of MRO work. To further support this expansion, Liebherr is constructing a new employee facilitation complex spanning 107,000 square feet.
“Liebherr-Aerospace's investment in Lindenberg underscores the industry's need for specialized maintenance and repair services as aircraft fleets mature,” said James Pozzi, MRO Editor for Aviation Week.
This expansion reflects a broader trend of increased aircraft maintenance requirements, ensuring the continued safety and performance of high-value aircraft systems amid fleet modernization efforts. The company’s strategic upgrades position it to meet future demands in the aerospace sector, supporting both regional and international client needs.
