LOT Polish Airlines has announced the launch of a new direct route connecting Warsaw to Bangkok, beginning October 26, 2026. This service will operate five times weekly, utilizing the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, designed to provide efficient, long-distance travel in a three-class configuration. The airline's strategic expansion into Asia aims to strengthen its position in the regional market and serve increasing passenger demand.
The airline's route planning offers convenient connections from German-speaking countries, with significant reductions in total travel time compared to competing services. This expansion is part of LOT's broader plans to add destinations such as San Francisco and Almaty by 2026, supported by ongoing fleet modernization efforts including the adoption of Boeing 787 aircraft. Amit Ray, director for the DACH markets, emphasized that adding Bangkok complements the airline’s existing routes to Tokyo, Seoul, and Delhi, enhancing Warsaw's role as an effective hub for Southeast Asia.
This move seeks to capitalize on Warsaw Chopin Airport's projected capacity expansion, positioning LOT as a competitive alternative for long-haul travelers from Eastern and Central Europe. The year-round schedule indicates confidence in sustained demand beyond seasonal peaks and aims to bolster the airline's cooperation within the Star Alliance by improving transcontinental connection options.
