NovAir (Armenia) has resumed scheduled passenger flights within Armenia, operating between Yerevan and Kapan since March 31, 2026. The airline's main aircraft, a Let 410 UVP-E20, recently returned from extensive maintenance in Czechia, allowing the airline to restart services amidst new ownership and regulatory approval.
The airline previously faced suspension of its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC), but has now regained its operational status. The current route features two daily flights and represents a strategic effort to improve regional connectivity. The airline's management has indicated that future expansion plans depend on potential government subsidies to support growth and increased flight offerings.
Implications for Armenia's Domestic Aviation
The resumption of operations by NovAir is significant for Armenia's domestic air travel sector. It fills a gap left by earlier service disruptions and could stimulate regional development. The airline's focus on a single route at this stage exemplifies cautious re-entry, with an eye toward possible network expansion pending regulatory and financial support.
"We are committed to serving the Armenian communities and improving regional connectivity," said Karen Vardanyan, CEO of NovAir. "Our focus is on reliable service with the aircraft available to us, and we will look for opportunities to grow if supported by the government."
This restart follows a period of operational uncertainty for the airline, which had faced suspensions and financial challenges. Industry observers see the move as a positive step towards restoring Armenia's regional flight network and boosting tourism and local economies.
