In Lucknow, an emerging aviation venture by Shravan Kumar Vishwakarma, chairman of Shankh Airlines, announced its plan to commence operations in April, initially focusing on connecting Lucknow with Delhi. The airline aims to operate five flights initially, positioning air travel as a necessity rather than a luxury. Vishwakarma emphasized the importance of strong leadership in the industry, stating, "In this industry, you are either at the top or you close your venture. There is no middle path."
Highlighting Uttar Pradesh's expanding airport network, including facilities at Jewar and Ayodhya, Vishwakarma credited infrastructural growth as a key driver of aviation development. He expressed confidence that increased airline operations would stimulate demand and further infrastructure upgrades, thereby making air travel more accessible for the general population. This initiative aligns with national efforts to democratize air connectivity across diverse regions of India.
Future Expansion and Connectivity
The airline plans to expand gradually as demand and infrastructure improve, with the broader goal of integrating Uttar Pradesh into the national and regional aviation network. Vishwakarma's vision underscores the importance of aviation as a vital component of transportation infrastructure, which will support economic progress and regional integration. The project reflects a strategic push to enhance accessibility and include more citizens in air travel, driving growth in the state's economy and mobility.
