Lufthansa has announced the commencement of sales for most of its business-class seats onboard the incoming fleet of Boeing 787-9 aircraft, following significant delays in seat certification. The airline opened bookings for 25 of the 28 business-class seats available on the new 'Allegris' cabins, expected to operate flights from mid-April.

The carrier disclosed that the delays have impacted its plans, but the airline is now moving forward with sales ahead of the fleet's entry into service. The new seating offerings are part of Lufthansa's broader initiative to upgrade its premium travel experience, though the certification process has faced prolonged hurdles.

Background and Future Outlook

Based in Frankfurt, Germany, Jens Flottau, the airline's executive editor, noted that these developments reflect Lufthansa's efforts to modernize its long-haul fleet despite regulatory and technical challenges. The Boeing 787-9 aircraft will feature the airline’s latest cabin designs, aimed at providing enhanced passenger comfort and operational efficiency.

Lufthansa emphasized that the certification delays temporarily impeded the immediate availability of the new seats, but that operations are now proceeding as planned. The airline continues to invest in its product offerings to stay competitive in the increasingly dynamic international aviation market, with the anticipated fleet entering service later this year.
