Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) announced that its current Group Managing Director, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, will retire on January 31, 2026, concluding a career spanning over 40 years. The company has named Captain Nasaruddin A. Bakar as his successor, appointing him as the new President and Group Chief Executive Officer.
Captain Izham’s tenure was marked by strategic restructuring and operational initiatives that helped restore the airline group's profitability and strengthen its market position. His leadership has been instrumental in navigating MAG through a period of transformation and growth.
Leadership Transition and Future Outlook
The incoming leader, Captain Nasa, has extensively contributed to MAG’s strategic projects, including the successful turnaround of MASwings and the implementation of a profit-oriented business framework under the Long-Term Business Plan 2.0. His appointment underscores the company's focus on continuity and sustained growth in a challenging aviation landscape.
