Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) is actively expanding its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) and engineering capabilities through the formation of seven strategic partnerships with major international aviation, engineering, technology, and logistics companies.
These collaborations aim to enhance fleet reliability, operational resilience, and establish a solid foundation for long-term growth in the MRO sector. According to MAG's president and CEO, Captain Nasaruddin A Bakar, the partnerships integrate global expertise and technical support with the group's engineering strengths, enabling better service support for airlines and creating new growth opportunities.
Key Collaborations and Objectives
The partnerships, announced at MRO Asia-Pacific 2026 held in Singapore, include industry leaders such as Thales, Airbus Flight Hour Services (FHS), Air France Industries KLM Engineering and Maintenance, The Boeing Company, and Collins Aerospace. These alliances are designed to improve maintenance planning, responsiveness, and availability of critical components, thus enhancing overall fleet operation.
"These collaborations bring together global expertise, technical capabilities and supply chain support with our own engineering strengths, enabling us to better support our airlines and strengthen our long-term MRO growth,"
said Captain Nasaruddin.
Moreover, the partnership with CEVA Logistics aims to improve supply chain support for Malaysia Airlines' engineering and operational needs. The expanded relationship with Batik Air Malaysia further strengthens MAB Engineering Services' role as an external MRO provider, supporting non-Malaysia Airlines clients and boosting external revenue streams.
Overall, MAG's strategic move underscores its commitment to ensuring fleet reliability and operational resilience through international collaboration, positioning the group for sustainable growth amid global aviation challenges.
