Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), operating Malaysia Airlines and Firefly, is expanding its flight capacity to accommodate increased domestic travel demand during upcoming festive periods including Hari Raya Aidiladha, Kaamatan, and Gawai. The group announced the addition of more than 60 flights on high-demand routes such as Kota Bharu, Labuan, Tawau, Sandakan, Kuching, Sibu, and Miri, offering travellers more options and convenience.

In support of government initiatives, both airlines will implement a fare cap of RM499 one-way on selected routes in East Malaysia, making travel more affordable during the season. The promotional fares are valid from late May and aim to facilitate holiday travel for residents of Sabah and Sarawak, with specific date ranges for each region.

Enhanced Passenger Benefits

Passengers booking with Malaysia Airlines and Firefly will enjoy complimentary checked baggage and in-flight refreshments, along with flexible flight change options. Firefly customers also have the flexibility of flying from both Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1 and Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, providing greater convenience.

Furthermore, the airlines introduced 'Flex' fare options, offering unlimited booking modifications and refunds subject to certain conditions, 35 kg baggage allowance (Malaysia Airlines), 30 kg for Firefly, and other premium features such as priority boarding and meal services. These measures aim to enhance the travel experience during the busy festive season.

“The additional flights and fare discounts are part of our commitment to support travelers during this peak period,” said a Malaysia Aviation Group spokesperson.

As the holiday period approaches, Malaysia Airlines and Firefly are preparing to accommodate increased passenger numbers, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey for holidaymakers across Malaysia’s domestic destinations.
