This article reports that Malaysia Aviation Group's subsidiary, MAB Engineering, has expanded its maintenance capabilities by moving into a new, larger hangar at Kuala Lumpur’s Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport. The newly commissioned Hangar 4, opened on May 7, provides additional capacity with dedicated lines for widebody, narrowbody, and turboprop aircraft, effectively doubling the company's MRO capacity at the airport. This strategic move enhances operational efficiency and fleet flexibility, supporting both group airlines and third-party customers.
Leased from Impeccable Vintage Properties under a 15-year agreement, the new facility enables MAB Engineering to better serve Malaysia Airlines and Firefly while increasing its third-party maintenance services. Malaysia Aviation Group CEO Nasaruddin Bakar highlighted that this expansion aligns with the group's long-term growth plan, enabling increased resilience and competitiveness in the aviation maintenance industry.
The company also continues operations at its facilities in Sepang, where it manages 13 aircraft bays in total. The move to Hangar 4 is seen as a significant step towards strengthening Malaysia's MRO industry and supporting the group’s growth ambitions in the region.
