Malaysia has renewed its promotional partnership with Emirates airline to support the country's goal of attracting 47 million international visitors by 2026. The one-year agreement involves Emirates promoting Malaysia across its global network and collaborating on marketing initiatives as part of the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign. This step aims to enhance air connectivity and tourism activity, especially in light of rising travel demand from the Middle East.

Emirates has operated flights to Malaysia for three decades and maintains 21 weekly flights between Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Dubai. The airline’s services are further extended through a codeshare with Batik Air, which connects to several domestic and regional destinations. Kuala Lumpur’s KLIA has hosted Emirates' Airbus A380 aircraft since 2012, highlighting the airline’s longstanding presence in the country.

The partnership aims to leverage Dubai’s strategic airline hub status to promote Malaysia at the upcoming Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, a key event for Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian tourism exchanges. Both Emirates and Malaysian authorities expect that joint promotional efforts will accelerate visitor arrivals, longer stays, and increased tourism expenditure, helping Malaysia recover strongly from pandemic-related declines.

Overall, Malaysia seeks to more than double its tourist arrivals from 2023, which totaled 20.14 million. Industry officials emphasized the importance of improved air links and collaborative marketing efforts in meeting these ambitious targets, with Emirates’ senior management expressing confidence in supporting Malaysia’s tourism ambitions through its extensive network and Dubai’s connectivity.
