The Ministry of Transport (MOT) of Malaysia, in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB), has unveiled a series of targeted measures aimed at stabilizing the country’s aviation industry amidst geopolitical uncertainties that have impacted operational costs and industry stability.

According to an official statement, these interventions include financial assistance, temporary restructuring of operational expenses, and specific incentives to maintain domestic air routes connecting Peninsular Malaysia with Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan. Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced a government allocation of RM5 million for flight ticket rebates, benefitting approximately 100,000 travelers. This rebate scheme is set to run through May and June 2026.

Additional Support Measures

Other strategies announced encompass an extension of up to 60 days for navigation fee payments, exemptions from aircraft parking fees, and a two-month deferment for Passenger Boarding Bridge and Infrastructure Charges, all designed to support cash flow within the industry.

These initiatives underscore the government's commitment to fostering a resilient and competitive aviation sector, vital for sustaining Malaysia's tourism and economic growth sectors.

As the industry navigates these challenging times, the coordinated efforts by government agencies and key industry players exemplify proactive measures to uphold operational stability and consumer interests in Malaysia's aviation landscape.
