The Malaysian transport ministry has intensified efforts to support the country's aviation sector amid ongoing challenges posed by the global energy crisis. Minister Loke Siew Fook revealed that over the past two weeks, discussions were held with the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) and Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) to formulate supportive measures for the industry.
Next week, the ministry plans to engage further with aviation industry stakeholders in a dedicated session to outline necessary actions. Minister Loke emphasized that these initiatives are crucial to ensuring the sustainability of Malaysian airlines and airports during these turbulent times.
In addition, the minister highlighted the importance of promoting greater utilization of public transportation, especially across Peninsular Malaysia. He noted that significant government investments in rail infrastructure are expected to benefit commuters in the long term. Expectations are that increased ridership will support the shift to electric vehicles, with the government committed to maintaining a reliable, efficient, and comfortable public transport system to meet public needs.
