Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has resumed its direct flights to Dhaka, Bangladesh, beginning March 12, 2026. Alongside this announcement, the airline opened a new city office at Taj Marriott on Gulshan Avenue in Dhaka, aiming to enhance air connectivity and foster stronger bilateral ties.

The twice-weekly service scheduled on Sundays and Thursdays is part of Maldivian’s commitment to serve the Bangladeshi expatriate community and regional travelers. With fares starting at USD 399, the new flights are expected to facilitate travel during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr and Ramadan holidays, offering airline passengers additional baggage allowances and convenient booking options.

Maldivian's Managing Director, Ibrahim Iyas, highlighted the importance of the route extension, noting the significant demand from Bangladeshi workers in the Maldives. The airline's fleet, consisting of 26 aircraft including Airbus A330, A320, ATRs, Dash 8, and Dash 6 models, supports regional and international routes across the region.

In conjunction with the flight launch, the airline announced a cultural event titled "Dhaka, We Heard You," scheduled to honor the Bangladeshi community in the Maldives. This move underscores Maldivian's broader strategy to deepen regional ties through increased connectivity and cultural engagement.
