Menzies Aviation has officially launched full passenger handling services at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), marking a significant expansion of its ground support operations in Southeast Asia. The move follows their prior ramp service operations and their recent award of a ground handling license in November 2024, establishing the company as a comprehensive ground services provider at the airport.
The company has upskilled existing ramp personnel to perform passenger services, successfully handling flights for airlines such as Ascend Airways, achieving a milestone in their operational development. Kuala Lumpur Airport handled 63.3 million passengers in 2025, ranking as the 20th busiest airport globally, which underscores the strategic importance of this expansion.
Focus on Sustainability and Community Support
Menzies has incorporated electric-powered ground support equipment, with 58% of its fleet at KUL being electric, complemented by the use of lower-emission fuels like B20 biodiesel. Additionally, the company actively supports local community initiatives, including Ahsana Charity House and The Lost Food Project.
"In less than two years, we've established a strong operational foundation at KUL by launching ramp services and evolving into a full-suite ground handling provider," said Darren Masters, EVP Oceania and Southeast Asia at Menzies Aviation. "Our combination of local capability and global standards ensures high-quality services for airlines from arrival to departure."
This development positions Menzies as a key player in one of Southeast Asia’s most critical aviation hubs, aligning with Malaysia’s growing passenger traffic and emphasizing sustainability goals within their operations. The company aims to continue expanding its service portfolio while maintaining high environmental standards, contributing to the airport's efficient and eco-friendly operations.
