The Mexican aviation industry is actively analyzing the operational, regulatory, and infrastructure challenges it faces. During the 60th Ordinary General Assembly of the National Chamber of Air Transport (CANAERO), industry leaders discussed strategies to enhance competitiveness and address rising costs.
CANAERO’s leadership, including President Cuitlahuac Gutierrez of Aeromexico and other key representatives, emphasized the significance of fuel expenses, which account for 25% to 30% of airline operating costs. The organization also highlighted the importance of revisiting airport fee structures, including Airport Usage Fees (TUA), to improve economic sustainability.
Industry Collaboration and Future Focus
CANAERO declared its commitment to collaborating with authorities and stakeholders to bolster Mexico's air connectivity. This approach aims to foster growth in air travel and international trade, ensuring the industry remains competitive amid evolving global dynamics.
