Mozambique has commenced a nationwide public consultation process concerning its Civil Aviation Master Plan, which spans the next two decades. This initiative comes as the government publicly recognizes the substantial difficulties facing the country’s aviation industry.
The consultation was launched on October 7, with Mozambique’s Minister of Transport underscoring the importance of revitalizing and strategically developing the sector to meet future demands. The plan aims to address existing challenges such as infrastructure limitations, regulatory issues, and the need for modernization.
Government’s Strategic Outlook
The government’s approach involves engaging stakeholders from various segments of the aviation industry, including airlines, airports, and service providers, to gather insights and develop sustainable strategies. This consultative process is intended to create a comprehensive roadmap that aligns with Mozambique’s economic growth and regional connectivity goals.
"This master plan is essential for defining our country’s aviation future and ensuring that we overcome current obstacles," said the Minister of Transport.
The initiative coincides with broader regional efforts to enhance air connectivity and stimulate tourism and trade. Mozambique’s focus on a long-term vision reflects acknowledgment of the sector’s vital role in national development and the need for substantial sector reforms. The public consultation will continue over the coming months, with the outcomes expected to shape policy and investment priorities to foster a resilient and competitive aviation industry.
