European line maintenance specialist Nayak Aircraft Services has announced the acquisition of a controlling stake in the Portuguese aviation services provider LAS Group. The deal, finalized in September, aims to expand Nayak's line maintenance coverage across Portugal and bolster its overall presence in the European MRO sector.
According to Nayak's managing director, Marco Smit, the acquisition will bring nearly 100 aviation professionals into the group, enhancing its capacity to support customers in Portugal. LAS Maintenance, LAS Group's line maintenance subsidiary, operates at five airports within Portugal, including Faro, Lisbon, Madeira Funchal, Ponta Delgada, and Porto—significantly strengthening Nayak's regional footprint.
Expanded Capabilities and Strategic Growth
The acquired company’s technical capabilities span a wide range of aircraft types, such as Airbus A320ceo and Airbus A321neos, Boeing 737 Next Generation and MAX variants, Airbus A330, Airbus A350, Boeing 777, Boeing 787, Airbus A300, Boeing 757, and Boeing 767. The integration of LAS Group's training and human resources divisions will also enable Nayak to extend its in-house training and labor support services, effectively increasing operational flexibility and resource availability.
“We are carefully growing and aligning our strategy to stay in the lead in Europe for line maintenance services,” said Smit. He also mentioned efforts to increase base maintenance and painting capabilities to further support this goal.
Overall, Nayak's strategic move aims to reinforce its market leadership in Europe’s aircraft maintenance sector, ensuring comprehensive service offerings and operational agility moving forward.
