NetJets Aviation, based in Columbus, Ohio, will cease selling the Citation XLS jet card on December 15, transitioning to the new Citation Ascend platform. The company currently operates forty Citation XLS jets in the United States, with additional aircraft in Portugal and the United Kingdom. Since early 2024, fifteen Citation XLS aircraft have been phased out, with eight of these in 2025, all within the U.S.
The Citation Ascend platform, for which NetJets is the launch customer, received FAA approval on November 5, 2025. This new platform is set to replace the Citation XLS, with an agreement signed in 2023 covering up to 1,500 jets, including 100 Citation Ascend, Citation Latitude, and Citation Longitude aircraft annually over a 15-year period.
Fleet Modernization and Strategic Shift
The move reflects NetJets' strategy to modernize its fleet and offerings, aligning with FAA regulations and market demand for newer, more efficient aircraft. The transition aims to enhance customer experience and maintain operational excellence in the evolving business aviation sector.
