Pan American World Airways, an iconic airline brand, is being revived by Pan American Global Holdings, which acquired it in 2023. According to co-founder Ed Wegel, the new airline plans to operate with Airbus A320neo aircraft once supply chain and engine issues are resolved. The company is working with AVi8 Air Capital to initiate the necessary certification process in the United States, aiming to establish a Part 121 scheduled carrier.

The revival project seeks to bring back the legendary name in commercial aviation after the airline ceased operations in 1991. The focus is on securing regulatory approval and modern aircraft to match contemporary airline standards.

Wegel emphasized that the airline's future plans depend on resolving current technical challenges, but the intent is clear to reintroduce the brand with a modern fleet. The efforts reflect a resurgence of interest in heritage airline brands with iconic status.

The project marks a significant step toward re-establishing Pan Am as a scheduled carrier in the United States, aiming to capitalize on its historical prestige and re-engage travelers seeking a nostalgic yet contemporary experience.
