The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has begun a formal investigation into an incident involving a United Airlines Boeing 767 at Newark Liberty International Airport. On May 3, the aircraft struck a light pole and a commercial vehicle during its final approach to Runway 29. The aircraft, United Flight 169, was arriving when it collided with an object on or near the runway area. The incident was documented with a Google Earth image of EWR's runway. Details indicate that the aircraft hit a light pole and a vehicle on the ground, prompting the safety board to examine the circumstances of the approach and response.

Senior Air Transport & Safety Editor Sean Broderick reported that the aircraft involved was a Boeing 767 and emphasized ongoing investigative efforts to determine causes and prevent future occurrences. The report highlights the importance of runway safety and ground-object clearance in maintaining aviation safety standards.
