Paranair, a regional airline based in Paraguay, has announced a temporary suspension of all its flights for a period of twelve days, from September 30 to October 12. The airline stated that this shutdown is necessary to perform scheduled maintenance on its fleet, which aligns with manufacturer procedures and aims to uphold safety standards. The move comes after a period of operational challenges, including cancellations, schedule changes, delays, and issues with passenger refunds, leading to regulatory intervention by Paraguay’s civil aviation authority, DINAC.
During the suspension, flights from Asunción to key destinations such as Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Salta, and Jujuy will be affected. The airline has indicated that regular service is expected to resume on October 13, with all routes scheduled to be operational following maintenance. Passengers impacted by the shutdown are advised to verify their reservations and seek refunds through official channels or their travel agencies.
This action reflects efforts by Paranair to address its fleet constraints and recent operational difficulties. Industry experts see this temporary closure as a necessary step toward ensuring the airline's future safety and stability, with an emphasis on restoring confidence among travelers and regulators. Paranair emphasizes its commitment to returning to full service once safety and fleet readiness are assured.
