Parata Air, based at Yangyang Airport in South Korea, is preparing to introduce a new international route linking Yangyang with Shanghai Pudong Airport in December 2026. The airline will utilize Airbus A320-200 aircraft for this service, marking its second connection to China. This new route aims to restore international travel from Yangyang after a hiatus exceeding three years, during which the airline operated under the now-ceased Fly Gangwon branding.
The airline currently operates a fleet of five aircraft and offers services to ten destinations, with a total of nineteen daily flights. The expansion to China is viewed as a significant step in Parata Air’s growth strategy, aiming to boost economic and tourism exchanges between South Korea and China. The route will also help rebuild international connectivity for Yangyang, a regional airport aiming to expand its global links.
Strategic Significance
The move underscores Parata Air's efforts to recover its international routes and expand its network amid industry recovery trends. By resuming flights to Shanghai Pudong, the airline seeks to reinforce its presence in the Chinese market and attract new travelers. This initiative demonstrates the airline's resilience after previous operational challenges and highlights its commitment to regional growth.
This new service is anticipated to facilitate stronger economic ties and increase tourism opportunities, supporting Yangyang Airport's status as a regional hub. Parata Air’s renewed focus on international routes signifies its long-term strategic plans to enhance connectivity and competitiveness in the Asian aviation sector.
