Pegasus Airlines has expanded its technical maintenance capacity by inaugurating a new aircraft maintenance centre at Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen Airport. The facility, emphasizing digitalisation and sustainability, initially supports five narrow-body aircraft simultaneously, representing a significant increase in operational capabilities for the carrier.
Constructed with an investment of approximately USD 40 million, the centre includes two maintenance hangars and a paint hangar, with future phases planned to increase capacity further. The infrastructure is designed for a broad spectrum of services, such as engine and landing gear replacements, avionics work, and structural repairs, while also offering aircraft painting and component maintenance.
Strategic and Sustainable Facility
Located on 18,000 square metres of enclosed space with a 25,000 square metre apron, the hangar's strategic position at Istanbul's airport transition zone supports efficient logistics and operational flow. It is also designed to promote digital workflows— featuring paperless processes, digital inventory management, unmanned PPE dispensers, and AI-driven data analytics—aligning with Pegasus’s environmental and operational goals.
"Our aircraft maintenance centre at Sabiha Gökçen Airport is a strategic milestone supporting Pegasus’s sustainable growth. It will enhance operational efficiency while fostering digital transformation," said Güliz Öztürk, Pegasus Airlines CEO.
This project is set to generate around 200 new jobs and will primarily serve Pegasus’s expanding fleet. There is also potential for serving other airlines’ aircraft in the future, highlighting its importance in regional aviation infrastructure.
