Philippine Airlines has officially received its first Airbus A350-1000, representing a major step in its fleet modernization and growth efforts. This aircraft makes Philippine Airlines the 10th airline globally to operate the A350-1000, the largest variant in the Airbus A350 family.

The milestone delivery is part of a broader plan to incorporate nine A350-1000 aircraft into the airline's fleet, primarily to bolster long-haul services to North America. The aircraft configuration includes a three-class layout with 42 seats in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy, and 316 in Economy, totaling 382 seats. It will work alongside existing Airbus A350-900s to provide more nonstop transpacific routes.

Strategic Fleet and Route Expansion

According to Mr. Lucio Tan, President of PAL Holdings Inc., the new aircraft signifies a transformative step that aligns with the airline’s vision of network growth and modernization. The aircraft's features, including its economy seating arrangement, aim to maximize efficiency while supporting longer routes.

“The arrival of the A350-1000 marks a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to fleet modernization and network growth. It will be a source of Filipino pride and a transformational step for our airline,” said Mr. Lucio Tan.

Philippine Airlines’ fleet now includes Airbus A330-300s, A350-900s, Boeing 777-300ERs, and the new A350-1000s, enabling it to sustain its long-haul growth strategy. The aircraft's advanced efficiency is expected to enhance operational reliability and route competitiveness, especially on transpacific routes.
