Philippine Airlines has announced plans to enhance its fleet through the signing of a sale-and-leaseback agreement for two Airbus A350-1000 aircraft with BOC Aviation. The airline also inducted the first of five additional leased A320-200s, marking a fleet expansion for domestic capacity. The first A350-1000 is scheduled for delivery by December 2025 and will feature Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines with 382 seats configured across business, premium economy, and economy classes. The airline's president, Richard Nuttall, stated the addition aligns with the company's modernization strategy and aims to strengthen its global competitiveness.

The airline's fleet is complemented by nine firmed A350-1000s ordered during the 2023 Paris Airshow and its current long-haul fleet includes A330-300s, A350-900s, and B777-300ERs. The new A320-200s, powered by CFM International CFM56 engines and configured with all-economy seating, will serve domestic routes, with deliveries planned through 2026. Philippine Airlines also highlighted the expansion of its narrowbody fleet, which now totals 80 aircraft, including models like the A321-200 and A321-200N.

Fleet Modernization and Market Strategies

In addition, Philippine Airlines continues to modernize and expand its fleet portfolio with new lease arrangements and aircraft deliveries, aiming to improve operational capabilities and passenger services across its network. The developments reflect the carrier's ongoing efforts to stay competitive in Asia and beyond amid changing market conditions.
