In April, Qantas achieved remarkable punctuality performance, ranking as the second most punctual major airline globally among carriers operating more than 20,000 flights, according to aviation analytics firm OAG. The airline's on-time performance (OTP) was measured at 87.8 percent, just behind SAS Scandinavian Airlines which led with 89.1 percent.

This improvement from March 2026, when Qantas placed ninth with an OTP of 83.7 percent, highlights the airline's operational strength. Other leading airlines included British Airways, Alaska Airlines, and All Nippon Airways in the top ranks.

Regional and domestic performance

Within regional operations, the Qantas Group, including Qantas and QantasLink, recorded a domestic OTP of 80.1 percent, outperforming Virgin Australia which had 77.7 percent. Among individual carriers, Hinterland led with an 84.3 percent OTP, with other notable performers including QantasLink and Virgin Australia.

“Overall, these punctuality improvements reflect strengthened operational performance for Qantas, promising more reliable service and higher customer satisfaction,” said industry analysts.

Despite ranking low with Rex at 66.9 percent OTP, the airline received recognition as the Domestic/Regional Airline of the Year at the Roy Morgan Customer Satisfaction Awards. Qantas also announced operational adjustments, including capacity reductions on certain routes and reshaped schedules, to enhance efficiency.

These advancements underscore a robust operational outlook for Qantas, creating expectations for better reliability and customer experience in the near future.
