Australian airline Qantas has revealed its first Airbus A350-1000ULR aircraft, designed for ultra-long-haul flights connecting Australia to London and New York. The aircraft, part of the 'Project Sunrise' initiative, aims to operate non-stop flights lasting up to 22 hours, enabled by a larger fuel tank and system enhancements. The aircraft's configuration prioritizes passenger comfort with a spacious layout and wellbeing features, including a dedicated Wellbeing Zone.

The airline’s CEO Vanessa Hudson emphasized that this project will revolutionize ultra-long-haul travel by reducing journey times and improving passenger wellbeing through science-backed cabin design. The development involved collaboration with aviation experts, Australian designers, and sleep scientists to minimize jetlag with innovative lighting and timed meal services.

The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in late 2026, with operations expected to commence in 2027. This milestone signals a significant advancement in aviation, promising to transform international travel for Australians and global travelers alike, with faster, more comfortable long-distance flights.
