Qatar Airways has announced that it is the first airline globally to equip its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners with Starlink internet technology. The airline has also completed the installation of Starlink on its entire Airbus A350 fleet within just eight months, by December 2025. Currently, nearly 120 of its widebody aircraft provide passengers with ultra-high-speed Wi-Fi, reaching speeds of up to 500 Mbps, allowing for seamless streaming and communication during flights.
This rapid rollout positions Qatar Airways as a leader in inflight connectivity, with the largest fleet of Starlink-enabled aircraft in the world. Since launching the service in October 2024, over 11 million passengers have enjoyed the complimentary, gate-to-gate Wi-Fi service. The airline's initiatives set a new standard for long-haul connectivity, especially on flights across North America, Australia, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.
Industry Leadership and Technological Innovation
Qatar Airways' achievement underscores its ongoing commitment to technological innovation and passenger experience. The airline is the recipient of the Skytrax 'World's Best Airline' award for the ninth time in 2025 and holds the distinction of being the first carrier to secure Starlink certification for the Boeing 787-8. Its fleet expansion demonstrates a focus on enhancing operational efficiency and passenger satisfaction through cutting-edge inflight connectivity solutions.
As a pioneering airline, Qatar Airways continues to lead industry advancements by offering high-speed, reliable Wi-Fi on more than half of its widebody fleet, providing a competitive edge in international aviation. The airline's continued investment in inflight connectivity also aims to improve real-time operational management and cabin service delivery, ensuring a seamless travel experience for its global customer base.
