Blue Islands, a regional airline based in the Channel Islands, has announced the closure of its operations after more than two decades of service. The airline, which employed approximately 100 staff, operated routes connecting Jersey with various airports in England, such as Bristol, Exeter, and Southampton. The fleet consisted of five ATR-72 aircraft.
The airline’s main base was in Guernsey, and it also operated inter-island flights to Jersey. According to a statement posted on its website, Blue Islands suspended its trading activities effective 14 November 2025.
This closure marks the second regional airline to cease operations in a span of less than three weeks, following the shutdown of Eastern Airways on 28 October. The current industry challenges, combined with operational and economic pressures, have contributed to the wave of regional airline shutdowns in the UK and nearby regions.
Industry analysts observe that the regional air transport sector continues to face difficulties amid fluctuating fuel costs, economic uncertainties, and changes in consumer travel patterns. The shutdown of Blue Islands leaves a notable gap for travelers in the Channel Islands and the British Isles, who relied on its services for inter-island and short-haul flights.
