Rolls-Royce Singapore, Rolls-Royce Solutions Asia, and Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at exploring new growth opportunities within aerospace and power systems sectors. This collaboration seeks to bolster Singapore's key economic pillars such as advanced manufacturing and technological innovation, particularly through advancing aerospace manufacturing processes and digital capabilities, including artificial intelligence (AI).
The MoU promotes the development of AI centers of excellence and expansion of existing initiatives like the Smart Manufacturing Joint Lab (SMJL). Giovanni Spadaro, President of Global Markets at Rolls-Royce Power Systems, emphasized the company’s long-standing presence in Singapore and its focus on providing power solutions for defense, marine, and infrastructure sectors. He noted that integrating AI technologies could significantly support the rising global demand for reliable and sustainable power sources.
John Kelly, Senior Vice President of Civil Aerospace for Rolls-Royce Singapore, underscored the importance of partnerships and innovation to sustain regional growth amid increasing demand in the aviation industry. Zheng Jingxin, Vice President and Head of Mobility at EDB, highlighted the MoU’s role in reinforcing Singapore’s position as a global aerospace hub and as a leader in AI and industrial development. These efforts are complemented by the launch of the Smart Manufacturing Joint Lab 2.0 in October 2025, which aims to further integrate advanced manufacturing capabilities and support the expanding data center market driven by cloud computing and hyperscale technology.
