Royal Air Maroc (RAM) has established a new air base at Tetouan Sania Ramel Airport, bolstering its presence in northern Morocco. The airline will commence direct flights to six European destinations including Barcelona, Brussels, London-Gatwick, Madrid, Paris, and Malaga. These routes will be operated with Embraer E-190 aircraft, beginning March 27, marking a significant enhancement to Morocco's regional air connectivity.
The expansion, in partnership with the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), aims to boost regional tourism, respond to growing passenger demand, and support the existing hub in Tangier. RAM also plans to add domestic services with flights between Tetouan and Casablanca three times weekly.
Strategic significance
Located along the Martil Valley near the Strait of Gibraltar, Tetouan serves as a key Mediterranean port. RAM Chairman Hamid Addou stated that this new base would play a vital role in strengthening tourism and economic growth in the region. ONMT Director General Achraf Fayda highlighted the importance of this initiative in fostering sustainable tourism development.
By strengthening regional links, RAM aims to attract more international travelers and support Morocco’s regional economic development, leveraging Tetouan’s strategic location along key international routes.
