Sarawak's Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, is set to convene a meeting aimed at promoting the adoption of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This initiative reflects Sarawak's strategic move towards renewable energy sources and reducing dependency on fossil fuels amidst global geopolitical tensions that have impacted oil markets.
During the Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House hosted by the Sarawak government, Works Minister Alexander Nanta Linggi highlighted the Premier's plans to accelerate SAF use. Nanta noted the government’s focus on transitioning to alternative energies such as solar power, hydrogen, and SAF, as part of Sarawak's broader efforts to ensure long-term economic stability and environmental sustainability.
He emphasized that Sarawak is also advancing public transportation systems like ART, which will incorporate hydrogen technology, aligning with the State’s commitment to a sustainable energy future. Nanta expressed confidence that the state’s careful planning will help maintain resilience and prioritize the welfare of its people amid changing energy dynamics.
