The General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) of Saudi Arabia has awarded tenders to two alliances, led by Jazeera Airways and BeOnd Aviation, to establish new national charter carriers. This move aims to significantly expand both domestic and international charter flight offerings across the Kingdom, aligning with the broader goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030.
According to GACA's officials, the new alliances are set to enhance the aviation sector by increasing flight capacity, providing greater connectivity, and adding approximately six million seats annually. The initiatives are also expected to generate around 1,000 jobs and operate a fleet of 21 aircraft, supporting the Kingdom's ambition to diversify and modernize its aviation infrastructure.
Strategic Impact and Future Outlook
The awarding of these tenders closes a comprehensive evaluation process, which included considerations of regulatory compliance and commercial viability. Both alliances feature foreign investment with majority Saudi ownership, ensuring local economic benefits along with international partnerships. The selected operators will now undertake licensing procedures, with GACA overseeing compliance and operational standards throughout the process.
"The Aviation Program is opening the charter market to new operators, driving competition and attracting additional investment into the sector," said Awad Alsulami.
Once operational, the new carriers are expected to bring a substantial uplift to Saudi Arabia’s aviation landscape, providing tailored services for groups and private travelers. This strategic move supports the Kingdom’s efforts to improve travel options and boost its position as a key regional aviation hub.
