Saudi Arabia's King Salman International Airport Nears Completion as a Major Aviation Hub
Construction of King Salman International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is nearing its final stages, with officials highlighting its significant role in regional and global aviation. This ambitious project, covering approximately 57 square kilometers, aims to support the country’s Vision 2030 goals by modernizing infrastructure and boosting economic growth.
The airport’s design reflects Saudi cultural identity, inspired by desert colours and textures, and will feature six parallel runways, nine passenger terminals, and extensive logistics facilities. When fully operational, it is expected to handle 120 million passengers annually by 2030 and create over 100,000 jobs, positioning Riyadh as a key international logistics and tourism hub.
Future-Ready Infrastructure and Strategic Goals
Unveiled in 2022 and scheduled for completion in November 2025, the development is characterized as a transformative aerotropolis, integrating residential, retail, and entertainment districts with advanced transport infrastructure. Khaled AlOjyan, Project Manager, described it as a landmark project that will support Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification efforts.
"This airport is set to become one of the world's largest and most advanced, reinforcing Riyadh's position on the global aviation map," said Khaled AlOjyan.
Aligned with Saudi Vision 2030, the airport aims to foster sustainable mobility and contribute to broader economic objectives, making Riyadh a leading center for logistics, tourism, and international business in the Middle East.
