Saudi Arabia’s new budget carrier, led by an Air Arabia-led consortium, has launched its operations from King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. The airline began services with domestic flights to Riyadh, Jeddah, and Medinah, offering a new low-cost travel option within the country.
The carrier’s first flight from Dammam to Riyadh was operated on September 20, marking the start of its presence in the Eastern Province. Currently, it operates two daily flights to Riyadh and Jeddah, along with one daily flight to Medinah, providing enhanced connectivity for travelers in the region.
Background and Operations
King Fahd International Airport was designated as the airline’s base following a competitive selection process conducted by the General Authority of Civil Aviation in July 2025. The consortium, comprising Air Arabia Group, Nesma Group, and Kun Holding, received its Air Operator Certificate last week after fulfilling technical and regulatory requirements.
The airline employs Airbus A320 aircraft with 174 seats in a single-class configuration, aligning with Air Arabia’s low-cost business model. The launch marks a significant milestone for Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector, offering affordable options while establishing Dammam as a key hub for the carrier’s regional network.
“This step marks an important milestone as the new national budget carrier takes off to the skies for the first time from King Fahd International Airport. The start of operations reflects our commitment to supporting the continued development of the Kingdom’s aviation sector while expanding affordable and reliable air connectivity from the Eastern Province,”
