SCAT Airlines will commence new scheduled flights from Shymkent, Kazakhstan, to Singapore Changi Airport via Sanya in China, starting October 20, 2026. Operating twice weekly, the service will utilize the Boeing 737-8 aircraft, exercising fifth-freedom traffic rights between Sanya and Singapore. This development marks an expansion of the airline’s international network, providing passengers with enhanced connectivity options in the region.
The route expansion aligns with SCAT Airlines' ongoing efforts to diversify its route offerings and strengthen regional ties. The airline's base in Shymkent currently sustains a fleet of 35 aircraft serving 46 destinations across 82 routes, with around 100 flights daily. This new route, endorsed by schedule data from ch-aviation, emphasizes the carrier’s strategic growth in Asian markets.
Strategic Significance
By exercising fifth-freedom traffic rights between Sanya and Singapore, SCAT Airlines is capitalizing on evolving air traffic agreements to facilitate more direct and efficient travel options in Asia, further embedding itself in regional air commerce. The move is expected to enhance regional connectivity and support Kazakhstan's international aviation ambitions, according to officials from the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan.
