The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has initiated a comprehensive security evaluation at Noida International Airport, aiming to ensure compliance with safety standards before issuing the aerodrome license and commencing operations in late 2025. The inspection encompasses critical security components such as screening systems, surveillance infrastructure, access control points, and perimeter safeguards. Once completed, the findings will be forwarded to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for approval.
Officials from BCAS arrived at the site to conduct an in-depth review of security arrangements, including luggage screening equipment and entry points. The construction of the facility is near completion, with ongoing technical trials related to passenger management, baggage handling, and security protocols. The airport is planned to initially operate domestic flights and cargo services, pending licensing and safety clearances.
According to Shailendra Bhatia, the nodal officer for NIAL, the aerodrome license decision is expected within a week following the report submission. The final authorization depends on positive assessments from both BCAS and DGCA. The airport authorities, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, are preparing for the inauguration, with the exact date to be announced after licensing approvals.
This security review follows a high-level meeting involving DGCA officials and airline representatives, which addressed operational readiness and security gaps, all of which have since been resolved. The ongoing evaluations highlight the progress toward the airport's scheduled opening, ensuring that safety standards are strictly adhered to for a smooth operational debut.
