In a notable move towards sustainable logistics, SHEIN, an online fashion retailer, has entered into a partnership with DHL to incorporate sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) into air cargo operations. This initiative aims to reduce the sector's carbon footprint by enabling corporate clients to utilize SAF through DHL's GoGreen Plus service, which supports the integration of renewable fuels into supply chains.

SHEIN emphasizes that lifecycle emissions reductions from SAF are documented via recognized certification frameworks, allowing companies to report their environmental impact accurately. This aligns with SHEIN’s ongoing efforts to lower emissions from air transport and promote environmentally responsible practices in global logistics.

Key industry collaborations

The partnership builds on SHEIN’s previous efforts, including a memorandum with Lufthansa Cargo in 2025 and the use of over 187 tonnes of SAF across charter flights operated by Atlas Air, resulting in significant emissions reductions. The company is also involved in regional initiatives like China’s SAF pilot programs and the Green Fuel Forward campaign led by the World Economic Forum, all aimed at accelerating adoption of cleaner aviation fuels.

John Pearson, CEO of DHL Express, described the partnership as a significant milestone in advancing sustainable practices within air transport, reinforcing the industry’s shift towards greener logistics solutions.
