Singapore's leading aircraft maintenance provider, SIA Engineering Company Limited (SIAEC), has announced an expansion of its partnership with Safran Aircraft Engines to enhance servicing capabilities for CFM Leap engines. The agreement, formalized through a letter of intent, aims to explore the possibility of establishing a joint venture dedicated to Leap engine maintenance in Singapore, leveraging SIAEC’s existing facilities at Changi North, which already performs quick-turn servicing for Leap engines.
Meanwhile, EirTrade Aviation has acquired two Airbus A320neos, each powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1127 geared turbofan engines, both six years old. The company plans to disassemble the aircraft at its facility in Knock to support its customer base and intends to sell the engines to mitigate the global shortage of PW1100 series spare engines.
These developments underlie strategic efforts within the aviation maintenance and repair sector to expand service capacity and ensure engine availability amid rising global demand. The collaborations and acquisitions signal key industry adaptations aimed at maintaining operational resilience and supporting fleet growth in the region.
