Siam Seaplane, based at Bangkok Don Mueang, is set to commence medevac operations in collaboration with Thailand's National Institute for Emergency Medicine (NIEM) starting November 2026. The initiative involves deploying a 2014 Cessna 208B Grand Caravan EX for medical transport across Thailand’s aviation network, with plans for international missions and seaplane operations in 2027.
According to company officials, the partnership aims to improve rapid access to emergency care by connecting remote regional airfields directly to urban hospitals. Siam Seaplane highlights the advantages of its aircraft, including a wide cargo door and spacious, non-pressurised cabin, facilitating onboard medical equipment and personnel movement.
Aircraft and Operations
The C208B Grand Caravan EX (HS-SSP) is a single turboprop aircraft with a capacity tailored for medical transport and regional connectivity. The company anticipates approval from authorities by late 2026 to expand medical services within Thailand and internationally.
“Partnering with NIEM allows us to deploy our fleet where rapid access is needed most,” said Worakanya Siripidej, CEO of Siam Seaplane. “Connecting remote airfields directly to urban medical hubs transforms emergency care access for communities across rural Thailand.”
This initiative represents a significant step forward in Thailand’s emergency medical transport capabilities, leveraging regional aviation assets to enhance health outcomes across rural areas.
