Singapore Airlines has secured the top position as the world's best airline in the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards held in London, marking its sixth victory since first winning in 2023. The survey, which included over 24.8 million travelers globally, assessed various categories such as service quality, onboard catering, and overall customer satisfaction.
The airline was recognized for excellence not only in its overall performance but also for its economy class and in-flight experience, further strengthening its reputation in the aviation industry. Skytrax CEO Edward Plaisted praised Singapore Airlines and its low-cost subsidiary Scoot for their commitment to service and resilience amidst challenging economic conditions.
Scoot, which was awarded the best long-haul low-cost airline, reported a record 42.4 million passengers in the recent financial year and maintained a strong position among budget airlines worldwide. Despite the accolades, Singapore Airlines experienced a net loss of S$76 million in early 2026 due to rising fuel prices and geopolitical turmoil, leading to postponed upgrades on some aircraft.
Industry experts view this recognition as a testament to Singapore Airlines' dedication to maintaining high standards in an increasingly competitive market, with prospects for further growth and service enhancements in the coming years.
