Singapore’s airlines have achieved commendable results in the 2026 global aviation safety rankings, according to Airline Ratings, a prominent industry safety and product rating platform. The rankings feature 320 airlines evaluated based on incident rates, fleet age and size, fatalities, and compliance with international safety standards.

In the low-cost carrier segment, Scoot secured third place worldwide, marking the highest-ranked Asean airline on the list. It follows Hong Kong’s HK Express and Jetstar Australia. Since its previous appearance in the rankings in 2023, Scoot remains a leader in safety among budget airlines. The list also included AirAsia, which ranked tenth.

Within the full-service airline category, Etihad Airways was named the safest airline globally, with Singapore Airlines ranking seventh. SIA’s long-standing reputation is evident, having appeared in nearly every ranking since 2014, despite a temporary absence in 2025 due to safety concerns linked to an incident involving severe turbulence and casualties in May 2024.

Overall, the data reinforce that commercial air travel remains statistically the safest mode of transportation, with IATA’s 2024 Safety Report indicating just over one accident per million flights and a very low fatality risk.
