In the 2026 airline rankings compiled by Skytrax, Singapore Airlines has been named the world's best airline, surpassing the previous holder, Qatar Airways. The survey, conducted from September 2025 to August 2026, evaluated responses from over 24 million travelers across more than 100 countries, rating over 325 airlines globally.
Qatar Airways, which clinched the top spot last year, now ranks second in the annual survey. The rankings also recognized Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific Airways, Japan's ANA All Nippon Airways, and Turkish Airlines among the top performers. Notably, budget airline Scoot received accolades as the best long-haul low-cost airline for the sixth consecutive year, ranking second in the low-cost category after AirAsia.
Singapore Airlines and Scoot together carried a record 42.2 million passengers during the period from April 2025 to March 2026, representing a 7.7% increase compared to the previous year. The airline plans to expand its European presence with new flights to Madrid starting October 2026, further solidifying its global reach. As of January 2025, Singapore Airlines and Scoot jointly operate 120 international destinations across 46 countries from their hub in Singapore.
