Singapore Airlines (SIA) has announced plans to operate daily non-stop flights connecting Singapore to Western Sydney International Airport (WSI), beginning on 23 November 2026. The airline will utilize Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering a total of 303 seats in two classes: 40 Business and 263 Economy. The inaugural service, flight SQ201, is scheduled to depart Singapore at 1130hrs and arrive at WSI at 2220hrs. The return flight, SQ202, will depart WSI at 2355hrs and reach Singapore at 0505hrs the following day.
This development increases Singapore Airlines' total services to Australia to eight destinations, including existing routes to Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney. Scoot, the low-cost subsidiary of SIA, also operates to three Australian cities. Officials from both Singapore Airlines and Western Sydney International have emphasized that the new route will strengthen connectivity between Singapore and Australia, offering more options for travelers and enhancing regional transport links.
Significance for the Region
Western Sydney, part of the expansive Greater Sydney area with over three million residents, is recognized for its economic vitality and cultural diversity. The new airport aims to bolster Sydney’s status as a major international gateway, providing ample late-night capacity and seamless connections through Singapore Changi Airport to over 130 global destinations. Both authorities see the route as a strategic step towards expanding Australia's aviation connectivity and supporting its economic growth.
