In 2026, South Africa Focus Week took place in Singapore, emphasizing collaboration between South African and Singaporean institutions across diverse sectors including agriculture, skills, and aviation. The event saw the signing of a three-year Memorandum of Understanding between the University of the Free State (UFS) and the National University of Singapore (NUS), focusing on advancing agricultural research, climate-resilient farming, and technology transfer. A partnership also aimed to bolster women's leadership through mentorship programs between She Brilliance and the Charlotte Maxeke Institute, empowering women in decision-making roles.
Young talent development was a cornerstone of the programme, highlighted by the Institute for the Future of Work at Tshwane University of Technology. It introduced a Youth Employability Skills Programme integrating design thinking, micro-projects, and mentorship, with further cooperation discussions involving industry partners such as Tata Consultancy Services and the Singapore Institute of Technology.
In the aerospace sector, collaborations between the Singapore Institute of Aerospace Engineers and Wings of Hope focused on training programs for youth seeking careers in aviation and aerospace, including the upcoming She Brilliance Women Exchange Programme scheduled for August 2027, which will feature leadership visits from Singaporean women to South Africa during Women’s Month.
A notable social-impact initiative was led by Wise Oaks International, which organized an art workshop for young artists. The event raised over S$3,400 through an auction, with half of the proceeds donated to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, demonstrating the event’s broad social scope.
